The Reindeer Who Couldn’t Fly

Once upon a time, in the enchanted forests near the North Pole, there lived a young reindeer named Twinkle who was different from all the others.

While the other reindeer were soaring through snowflakes, twisting and turning through the icy skies, Twinkle was stuck on the ground… with her nose in the snow.

No matter how hard she ran, jumped, or flapped her hooves (even though hooves aren’t exactly flappy), she simply couldn’t fly.

“Maybe I need more glitter oats,” she told her best friend, a wise old snowy owl.

“Maybe you need to believe in yourself,” the owl replied with a hoot.

Twinkle tried everything. She tied balloons to her antlers. She wore extra-light antler polish. She even tried flapping her ears. But nothing worked.

Then came the day before Christmas Eve — the day Santa tested his sleigh team. The forest buzzed with excitement. Everyone was practicing loops and spins. Everyone… except Twinkle.

She sat by a frosty log, watching the sky, her heart heavy like a snow boot.

Just then, a small voice squeaked from the trees. A baby bunny was stuck on a high snowy ledge, too scared to climb down.

Without thinking, Twinkle charged up the hill, steady and sure, and gently helped the bunny down.

“You’re my hero!” the bunny beamed. Twinkle smiled.

Suddenly, her hooves lifted slightly off the ground. A breeze caught under her belly. She wobbled, blinked… and floated a little higher.

She didn’t soar. She didn’t loop. But she flew — even if only for a moment.

Santa, who had been watching from behind a peppermint tree, clapped his mittens.

“Twinkle,” he said with a grin, “you have the kind of heart that lifts the world. That’s the kind of magic we need.”

And that Christmas, Twinkle led the sleigh — not because she was the fastest, or the highest-flying reindeer, but because her courage and kindness were lighter than air.

From that night on, Twinkle never doubted herself again. And though she never flew the highest, she always flew the proudest.

The end.
